What to Eat?

RESTORATIVE DIET SHEET FOR ACUPUNCTURE THERAPY PATIENTS

WHAT TO EAT:

In Liberal Amounts - -

All varieties of vegetables in season, as fresh as possible, raw or not overly cooked. tomatoes, bean sprouts, green peppers,, watercress, broccoli, turnips, eggplant, squash, asparagus, bamboo shoots, onions, cucumbers, carrots, okra, zucchini, etc. Other sprouts.

In Moderation - -

(1) Cereals: well-cooked mush made from UNPOLISHED RICE, MILLET, oatmeal, whole wheat flour, “9-grains” barely or buck wheat meals, etc. May spread one to two teaspoonfuls of sun-flower seed (raw) meal on your cooked cereal.
(2) Breads:  Whole wheat or Roman meal bread, or oatmeal bread, corn bread, etc. No preservative or artificial enrichment.
(3) Potato: Yams, and other root vegetables. Boiled, or baked, small servings.
(4) Legumes: All kinds of beans well cooked: SOY BEAN, AZUKI BEAN (or, small red beans), lima bean, peas, pinto or white beans, lentils, and other beans. Advisable to cook cereal and beans together.
(5)  Fruits:  Eat them in season. Juice them to drink only when your jaw is locked or edentulous. Dry fruits only when you can’t get the fresh, and canned without sugar. Try not to cram much fruit into a main vegetable meal. Use fruits to sweeten your mush.

In Small Amounts - -

(1)  Nuts: Raw or lightly roasted, or prepare entrée “loaves” with tem (including TOFU, a soy bean cheese) ALMOND, sun flower seed, pecan, walnuts, cashew, pumpkin seeds, peanut, sesame seeds, pistachio, etc. (If you can’t chew, may use a coffee grinder to crush your nuts into a meal don’t overchop then into a “butter.” Use these freshly chopped meals in your cereals or soups. Almonds contain an excellent complete protein)
(2) Meats Allow only small morsels of white chicken meat or white regular fish fillet to flavor your entrée or soups. (Aim at weaning yourself from all meats because of animal diseases, undesirable hormones and mercury. For man, constructed closely to monkeys than the lion, lives longer and healthier on a well balanced vegetarian diet.)
(3)  Oils:    Safflower oil, sesame seed oil, corn oil, soybean oil, peanut oil, olive oil, etc. In small amounts, to prepare your vegetable & entrée.
(4)  Eggs: Not more than three a week for people over 20 years of age.
(5)  Diary products: They are made for calves who live not more than 15 years and get arterioscleroses and die. We use them only when necessary for food supplement, in small amounts off and on. Cottage cheese, yogurt, buttermilk, low fat milk. (Be sure you are not allergic to them)
(7) Spices: Minimum of honey or brown sugar, if you are not fat or a rheumatic or a diabetic victim.
(6) Sweets: Beware of those that please the tongue and nose but smart your stomach bowels, liver and bladder.
(8) Salt:

Use sea salt.

WHAT TO EAT?

(1)  All food or drinks containing refined sugar-candies, cookies, pies and puddings, pastries and custards, ice cream, sugary canned fruits and stewed fruits, soft drinks or fruit punches or drinks containing sugar. Refined sugar tends to disturb your body calcium metabolism; deplete essential higher demand of Vitamin C and B for the joints, aggravating rheumatic process and pains, besides weakening your teeth.

(2)  Red meats, pork, salted meats, hamburgers, processed CHEESES, foods prepared with animal fats or shortening, butter, margarine with high content of saturated fats, highly creamed soups, cheesed salad dressings.

(3)  Nuts fried in deep fat, potato chips, french fries or Fritos.

(4)  Artificial coloring and chemical additives to food. Avoid processed and packaged, good looking and tasty breakfast foods and drinks.

WHAT TO EAT?

Water. Good drinking water, preferably not too icy, and not too much with your meals, drink between meals though not forcefully. Allow many kinds of flower teas mainly for a warm flavored drink, such as mint tea for flatulence, chrysanthemum tea for mild cough, papaya tea, mu tea, sage tea, ginger tea, etc.

Juices. Fresh juices in moderate amounts is allowed, preferring eating the fruit pulp and juice together, so you would not overload yourself with fruit sugar calories. (Milk is a food, not a drink.)

 WHAT NOT TO DRINK

Coffee. (Disturbs your autonomic and hormonal systems, irritates bladder, mask fatigue and fakes a refreshing, aggravate diabetes.) ( Postum may be used for a substitute to ease out from its hook- - “I like it, or I can’t do without it!”)

Any drink containing ALCOHOL. (If you must drink some, drink it after 11/2 hr. boiling.)

Regular Chinese tea. Excepting you just came out from an asthmatic attack, or you want to promote insomnia or indigestion after a greasy meal.

Hot chocolate or cocoa. It is an inducer of milk and sugar usage and thus a weight gainer.

All soft drinks and fruit drinks containing sugar and artificial chemical flavor. (What about “coke”? Remember it contains coca alkaloids one of which is cocaine a habit forming drug.)

ALSO TO AVOID

Al toxic materials, including SMOKING, AND OTHER FORMS OF TABACCO. Keep away from people who smoke, and where auto fumes gather (carbon monoxide poising)

FOOD FOR THOUGH

* 45% of American women are overweight. *An average American consumes 100 lbs. Of refined sugar (empty calories) a year. *While flour had 11 nutrients taken out and they “fortified” and “enriched” with 4 unnatural things.  *Average people think if they have not chewed down a steak, they have not had a square meal, not knowing the cow is a source of most of our degenerative diseases. * Many claims they can’t give up cigarette, coffee or other stimulants because they “like it too much” not knowing their addiction to it is the very reason they should drop it. An apple is a good food; you are not addicted to it because it does not contain a subtle “hanging” thing to hook you.
